Problem The local lumberyard down the block has only fir plywood. Fir has a reputation for checking. Fancy meranti marine ply is available at the lumberyard in Berkeley but that’s three miles away. How to move three sheets of 4ftx8ft ply?

Solution 1: Rent a truck.

But it is Earth Day. Burning a gallon of gas to move 80lbs of plywood would be unsporting.

Solution 2: Build a plywood scooter.

Then, in a mere 3 hours with the help of a much-needed assistant: 3 sheets of marine ply arrived in the back yard

If I were doing it again, I would use skateboard trucks which I now understand are marvels of engineering and design.
